Shake up your Asana

Namaste Family!

It has been a great 6 weeks since coming home from training and sharing the blessings from Laughing Lotus Yoga with you. Seeing all of your faces in class has been a real treat as we work up some heat in the hour to help melt away the winter chill. I am so inspired to teach right now, so I thought I would add a couple more classes to the schedule. Check out the timetable page for more details.

Look forward to seeing you on the mat a little more often!

Warm wishes,

Lara.

I’m Back in Town!

Namaste Family,

I’m back from New York City and am now a certified and registered 500 hour Yoga teacher!

I am so excited to share with all of you what I have learnt over the past two months from the divine Laughing Lotus NYC. The director of the school, Dana Flynn and her fabulous selection of teachers continued to inspire and challenge us to find our own unique teaching voice. I’m itching to get these teachings out there so come join me in class next week! Have a look at my timetable page for regular class times recommencing and also some complimentary classes I’ll be offering in store at lululemon, Perth City.

I would like to offer pranams and gratitude to my teachers Dana Flynn, Sheri Celentano, Mary Dana Abott and Alison Cramer for generously sharing their wisdom and experience to our special bunch of 20 Yogi’s and Yogini’s.

I look forward to seeing you on your mat soon.

Namaste Family,A month in NYC goes by very quickly.I have been hanging out with some seriously awesome Yogi’s. Laughing Lotus Yoga Centre is a temple, situated three levels above 6th avenue, where creativity and individuality is embraced. Here in class you can detach from the chaos of the streets below however, the deafening noises of the fire trucks and short tempered taxi drivers remind us that we can never control what happens around us, only our reaction to it. I’ve spent hours looking at the world upside down (literally), chanted Sanskrit, sung Kirtan while attempting playing the Harmonium, cooked and pounded Ayurvedic spices and have been exposed to volumes of new music and inspirational literature. My teachers continue to generously offer their knowledge and experience to help stoke the fire within us, so then we can go on and share the ‘Art of Lotus Flow’ with our Yoga communities.New York Yoga teachers can be very creative with the way they share their Yoga. One example is ‘Breaktie Yoga’, which is an amalgamation of break dancing and Yoga. With my zealous attitude of trying anything new I gave it a go. We busted out some arm balances while we had some “phat beats” of Dre Dre and friends playing in the background. These opportunities really are humbling; how we can enter a new situation thinking we have a good understanding on what is being taught, and how quickly we can become a beginner again. The situation served as a reminder to approach each situation with the mind of a beginner,  then you can really absorb what is being offered.
All my love,

Lara

New York, New York

Happy New Year to all of you! I hope this year is an exciting and fulfilling one for you. Whatever it is you intend to do this year, I hope you are able to carve out some time for your Yoga practice. Yoga helps us with strength and flexibility; and that’s not just reserved for physical benefits. These traits also benefit our mental health, encouraging us to be adaptable to change and the challenges that come with new beginnings. On the topic of new challenges, I’m sitting in Sydney International Airport almost ready to board my flight to New York City. I’m heading back to Laughing Lotus Yoga School to dive deeper into my Yoga with the 300 hour Advanced Teacher Training program. Eight glorious weeks learning from the outstanding teaching faculty of Laughing Lotus who inspired me to become a teacher in the beginning. I’m so excited to see friends, to walk the familiar streets, drink my body weight in GT’s Kombucha tea (fermented mushroom goodness) and to be a student again. I’ll be back in April, and will email a shout out to where my classes will be. Until then, i’ll be posting updates, so check back here every now and then for NYC filled Yogic adventures.

Keep practicing your Yoga.

Love Lara.

Yoga at Venn

Namaste Yogi’s

I am so excited about the warmer weather approaching. This time of year can be very busy for most of us with the increasing commitments as we near towards the end of year. A regular Yoga practice can really compliment our busy lives as it serves us as this constant reminder to slow down, breathe and return back to our centre. When we are centered and grounded, we tend not to be so reactive to the stress surrounding us.

So, to make a regular Yoga practice more accessible to city dwelling students I have fortunately been offered to teach in the beautiful Venn building on Queen Street. Class will be held from 7:15am to 8:00am from the 10th of November to the 15th of December. It is only $10 a class if you sign up to all 5 lessons or, it is $12 per class if choosing to attend casually. Summer is a great time to get up a little earlier (it’s been light since 4am anyway…) and embrace the day with a Sun Salutation. The Venn café will be open from 7am to offer you “off to work” coffee, tea or snacks to send you on your enlightened way.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Warm wishes,

Lara

Welcome

A warm welcome to my new Sukha Yoga website. Here, you’ll be able to find out a little more information on the many way’s I can bring Yoga to you. Whether you are interested in private, group or enquiring about a corporate class, I am happy to be of service to you. My classes available to the public are listed under the timetable and will keep you updated as I add more to my schedule.

Practicing Yoga helps us to check out of all of the overdrive of external stimulation we subject to ourselves daily. When we practice Yoga our minds are able to catch up with where our bodies are at. We can slow down and check in with ourselves, with emphasis being on how we breathe and move through the practice.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any enquires, I look forward to meeting you on the Yoga Mat real soon!

Namaste
